Fusing is a special method for creating glass works. This method utilizes an oven at very high temperatures. For example, one can place multiple colored glass pieces, which includes special powders, on top of another larger transparent piece of glass, all placed in the oven to “cook” and solidify into a beautiful finished work of art. During the heating process, the glass becomes more malleable and takes the form of a liquid and as a result creates a unique blend of colors and glasswork. After about 20 hours of heating, I open the oven and am moved and enthused each and every time by the unique and spectacular results.
